Job Summary:
The Piping Stress Engineer is a fully qualified professional in piping / pipe stress analysis, proficient in the utilization of piping / pipe stress engineering theories/practices/CAESAR II software and performs mechanical design, quality management and coordination of oil and gas production piping systems including new installations as well as upgrades and retrofits to existing onshore plants, terminals and offshore platforms.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs pipe stress of piping systems in accordance with ASME, ANSI B31.3 code requirements using CAESAR II software program.
• Performs analysis of nozzle loads / stress on vessels using WRC 107/297 capability of CAESAR II program.
• Prepares engineering computations and analyses, including piping flexibility analyses.
• Review piping flexibility analysis to provide directions to others working on piping system.
• Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.
• Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings and computer models and able to coordinate the design of unique pipe supports as required.
• Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines and other departments.
• Develop, track and manage line lists , size/specify piping, and assist the PDMS/E3D designers with routing decisions.
• Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and Engineers working on the same project.
• Ability to prepare detailed requisitions for equipment and materials is preferred, but not required. Ability to review supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses is preferred, but not required. Ability to prepare and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents is preferred, but not required.
• May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
• Interface with other disciplines for pipe supports, structural interfaces.
• Coordinate with other engineering and design/drafting disciplines to ensure an integrated design that meets the project requirements.
• Develop engineering reports and associated spreadsheets
• May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
    Must have a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering; an Advanced degree is preferred; Fifteen (15) years' experience preferred in engineering design and/or project management of onshore and/or offshore oil and gas facilities required; Must have seven (7) years of related work experience in the field of pipe/pipe stress design and analysis; Must be proficient in CAESAR II pipe stress analysis software application Requires familiarity with all engineering and design requirements, including client provided specifications and all applicable codes and standards. Requires knowledge of codes and standards associated with oil and gas production facilities and equipment installations (e.g. API, ANSI, ASME) P.E. License registration is required NCEES record is preferred


Working Conditions:

• Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private Office) but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations;

• Field duties require outdoor work in a construction site type atmosphere;

• Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;

• Working on a construction site or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels

• Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;

• May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;

• May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.

Physical Requirements (With or without Reasonable Accommodation):

• Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds;

• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;

• Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;

• Sufficient vision or other powers of observation which permits employee to conduct analysis and investigations;

• Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties;

• Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
