Senior Power Market and Settlements Engineer

Under general direction of the Manager of the Power Markets & Settlements Section, the incumbent is responsible for leading assignments which are complex and difficult, requiring unique technical knowledge and skills related to: (1) the management and settlement of the Statewide Energy Office (SWEO) Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs); (2) economic and engineering evaluation of responses to SWEO Request For Proposals (RFPs) under Division 29, Electric Supply Strategic Reliability Reserve Program (ESSRRP) and Division 29.5, Eligible Energy Resource Central Procurement (EERCP) of the California Water Code and Division 15 of the Public Resources Code; and (3) monitor energy proceedings such as at the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), California Energy Commission (CEC), and the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). Assignments involve close coordination with SWEO staff, DWR leadership, CPUC, CEC, and the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Incumbent will be responsible for project coordination with the CAISO, generator developers, electric Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs), Publicly Owned Utilities (POUs), and Community Choice Aggregators (CCAs).
