Our team in Tucson is growing, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Project Controls Specialist to join our Pipelines (mineral processing slurries) Business line in the Tucson office.

About the role

  • Establish cost controls for the project utilising standard Ausenco systems, by creating the control budget using the work breakdown structure and control accounts against which trends, scope changes, commitments, payments, forecasts and budget variances are monitored and reported.


• Contribute to the success of projects by creating project staff and resource plans.

• Provide guidance and support to the Project Controls team in the preparation of periodic project status reports incorporating cost reporting, cash flow forecasts, commitment and revenue curves, KPI's, variance reports, scope changes, trends, schedule updates, critical path assessments, resource histograms, progress curves, current versus baseline comparisons, time phased reporting, earned value management and other performance measurements

• Continually monitor and update project cost forecasts by engaging with Engineering, Procurement, Contract Administration and Construction to make sure that forecasts accurately reflect the current scope and schedule.

• Manage and record data and information, analyse and make recommendations and prepare monthly/weekly project status reports.

• Assist the project controls team in all aspects of cost control, scheduling, progress measurement and cost forecasting.

• Provide support through technical excellence in systems and procedures across both Cost Control and Planning/Scheduling.

• Maintain accurate cost control records by completing project commitment and actual payment data entry, administrating project and corporate invoices and performing general cost control and reconciliation tasks. Commit allocation of costs to job cost system.

• Manage scope changes by establishing and maintaining the scope change database to manage and report trends and scope changes against the control budget.

• Provide leadership around the establishment of a consistent approach to Project Controls within Ausenco projects by identifying best practice and leading implementation across projects. Maintain up to date procedures for the Project Controls team.

About you

  • Degree or diploma in engineering, project management, business administration, finance and/or aptitude.
  • 8 - 15 years' experience in multi-disciplinary project controls management including cost control, planning and scheduling, change management, progress measurement and monthly report preparation in the field of engineering and construction.
  • Expert knowledge of different types of contracts and limited contractual obligations.
  • Relevant experience in EPC or EPCM environment
  • Experienced in using an ERP (Oracle preferred)
  • Experienced in using MS Office (advanced), Primavera P6 (advanced), Ecosys (preferred)
  • Must be Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Ability to mentor and coach team members.
  • Willingness to travel.
