Description:

Our business is growing, and we need additional experienced people to join our team! The successful candidate will be planning, coordinating, and managing the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of assigned large capital projects. Additionally, he/she will ensure clear agreement of client objectives, and these objectives are met or exceeded, achieve or better the budgeted gross margin and provide strong HSE leadership.

Purpose:

Provides direction and project management to ensure project completion in accordance with contractual obligations. Defines project goals and devises methods to accomplish them; develops in-depth knowledge of customer objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies. Plans, organizes, manages, and controls projects with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the Worley. Supervises project personnel through subordinate leaders.

Typically manages one of the most complex, highest risk projects or programs within the Worley. Ability to visualize and design new concepts and ideas related to technical/functional projects. Broad knowledge of business operations and ability to implement and sometimes lead organizational change effectively within project scope. Typically manages a team of Project management team and guide them on Worley standards, procedures, and risk management.

The role will provide oversight and technical direction to a group of people in project management, including project engineering coordinators, project engineers, project managers, and portfolio managers under the administrative guidelines of the company. Accountable for the identification, selection, hiring, training, and development of people and managing their assignments. Accountable for delivery of projects in compliance with company requirements. Plans, organizes, manages, and controls department budgets with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by Worley.

Responsibilities:
  • HSE Management - Ensures compliance with all HSE procedures and that that HSE requirements are documented and understood by all project participants.
  • Client Relationships - Identifies, documents, and communicates client requirements. Effectively manages multiple stakeholders and maintains / develops healthy client relationships throughout the project and post-completion. Proactively resolves performance, scope, cost, and schedule issues with the Client as they arise.
  • Commercial Management - effectively manages Worley/Client contract.
  • Scope Management - manages an effective handover from the Business Development Group. Clearly defines scope and compliance with requirements of the contract. Effectively manages change control process application, project interfaces, including use of High Value Engineering Centres. Manages and monitors project performance to identify issues and opportunities early and seizing opportunities to take pre-emptive action.
  • Time Management - Manages the planning of all scope elements of the project. Develops resource and financial requirements from the project plan. Manages the design, procurement, and construction activities to meet the project schedule. Routinely monitors the key reports and development of corrective action plans. Achieves timely and effective documentation turnover at project close-out.
  • Cost Control - Plans and prepares accurate project estimates. Establishes cost reports for control of projects. Monitors and controls all cost aspects of the project including forecasting costs, obtaining approvals, identifying trends, and taking action to avoid cost overruns and identifying opportunities. Continual assessment of performance of cost control system and personnel.
  • Quality Management - Defines the project quality requirements. Ensures the right systems are in place and applied on the project. Develops a project schedule which allows work to be executed in logical sequences. Ensures compliance with Worley policies and procedures.
  • Team Management - Provides clear and focussed leadership for the project team to create a vision for project success and a strategy to fit that vision. Focuses on achievement of milestones and other key project objectives. Provides mentoring and participates in staff performance evaluations.
  • Communications Management - Ensures accurate and timely progress reporting to the client and internally to Worley management. Ongoing monitoring of the communication network between project staff, the client and third parties and introduction of changes where required.
  • Risk Management - Identifies project risks and opportunities. Monitors closure of all identified risks and opportunities.
  • Design Management - Sets clear objectives for the design team. Ensures design team is aware of and complies with client's Basis of Design and applicable regulations and codes. Monitors design activities, inter-discipline data flow and communications.
  • Procurement/Subcontracts Management - Sets clear objectives for procurement and subcontracts team. Assesses procurement process through the project to ensure goods meet specifications and are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Construction Management - Sets clear objectives for the Construction team. Monitors the Construction Management function to ensure safe delivery of the project within cost and schedule objectives.
  • Ensures Worley methodologies, processes, tools, and systems are used throughout the project and compliance requirements are met/satisfied.
  • Applies knowledge of all aspects of a project (engineering, procurement, quality control, etc.) to oversee the successful execution of the project plan.
  • Ensures design team is aware and complying with customer Basis of Design and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail. Demonstrated understanding of engineering project delivery workflow and coordination.
  • Basic exposure and understanding of procurement/subcontracting and onsite construction support.
  • Experienced in preparing Project Execution Plan covering all aspects of the scope. Has considered previous lessons learned as inputs to planning the project execution.
  • Manages execution, coordination, and implements regular reviews/controls to track project progress.
  • Good understanding of Project Control Reports. Identifies problem areas and implements recovery plans. Interprets and understands key elements of the project schedule and resource plan.
  • Incorporates Value Creation and Sustainable Solutions objectives into project plan, measures and delivers objective
  • Effectively communicate and take a leadership role in preparing and presenting proposals and reports to staff and management.
  • Implements clear communication protocols, processes, and tools for the project team.
  • Clearly communicates project requirements, contractual requirements, customer expectations, KPI and project status with project team.
  • Creates an environment for open communication and builds high performing team on trust and respect. Resolves issues and conflicts within the project team including customer.
  • Effectively relates with people across levels, functions, geography, and cultures.
  • Works collaboratively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives.
  • Identifies and understands the customer's key drivers (KPIs). Manages customer representatives and other significant stakeholders.
  • Manages and nurtures customer and stakeholder relationship based on established expectations and communication protocols.
  • Develops a relationship of trust and respect with ability to discuss project progress, challenges, and issues in a transparent manner. Risk & Opportunity Management
  • Identifies potential risks or new risks as the project progresses and effectively develops risk mitigation, contingency and resolution plans. Follows Worley risk management procedures.
  • Keeps detailed risk register that stays current and is tracked and communicated on a regular basis (at least monthly). Utilizes Risk Register items as the basis for any project contingency budget.


Experience (required):
  • Experience in Mining projects with open-pit, underground mining and material handling strong knowledge.
  • Project execution experience.
  • Experience in managing Engineering Feasibility Studies and Execution of Mining projects.
  • Demonstrable commitment to HSE Management in a project environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex negotiations and managing client relationships.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • High level of customer focus; result-oriented leadership skill.
  • Safety and quality committed leader.

  • Experience in EPC/EPCM projects in the execution phase, from the commencement of detailed engineering, coordination pf procurement activities and management of construction contracts.

Project proposal development experience
  • Strategic pursuit and proposal development.
  • Proposal write-up including technical, value proposition and vision objectives.
  • Envision engineering and project execution methodologies.
  • Technical and business presentations to customers.
  • Input to commercial model development. Held approval authority for specific project sizes.


Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years' Mining, Minerals & Metals industry experience managing large projects required with a strong preference for experience on the Owners side.
  • 5+ years ESP (Engineering Service Provider) experience required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Experience in Mining projects with open-pit, underground mining and material handling strong knowledge.
