CubeSmart is currently seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join the Accounting team at our Malvern, PA headquarters. The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for managing relationships and ensuring accurate preparation of related financial deliverables associated with their portfolio of properties.

Responsibilities

The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for financial statement and reconciliation review, discussions with personnel in numerous departments and problem resolution. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, analytical and driven thought processes, leadership skills and advanced application of accrual and cash basis accounting.
  • Reviews and ensures accuracy of various general ledger accounts.
  • Reviews and prepares monthly financial statements on an accrual or cash basis.
  • Leads preparation and analysis of financial statements and the related financial package for multiple entities.
  • Manages relationships with third-party ownership groups with a high level of customer service.
  • Supervises one to two Property Accountants, ensuring staff is well-informed of policies and procedures and providing necessary training and support as needed.
  • Directs and creates processes to ensure timely completion of multiple tasks and objectives including the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by reviewing relevant publications in order to stay informed of developments in the accounting field and real estate industry as well as any changing governmental and legal requirements.
  • Leads quarterly and year-end audit processes.
  • Completes special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or other related field.
  • A minimum of three to five years of business accounting experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General ledger and financial statement mastery.
  • Ability to create and adapt accounting reports and craft business correspondence.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • High degree of initiative and independent leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and expense controls.
  • Works well under pressure, meeting deadlines consistently.
  • Strong computer skills and Microsoft suite expertise.
