Vocational Services at the Mall has a vacant permanent Senior Psychiatric Technician (SPT) position. Candidates should be energetic with a positive attitude and able to self-initiate. Applicants need to have some knowledge of vocational rehabilitation and should be committed to Vocational Services as a therapeutic intervention. The SPT must be able to create and foster strong positive relationships and communicate with staff and patients across multiple departments/disciplines as well as communicate with outside vendors.

The SPT for Vocational Services oversees the general operations of the worksites. They help with daily staff assignments to ensure all work sites are staffed appropriately. They perform rounds of assigned worksites to ensure safety and quality of services provided, quality control. Rounds also include environmental inspections, fire/disaster drills, emergency cart assessment as well as auditing work-site documentation.

The SPT needs to be flexible with daily job duty changes and be able to work at any worksite with patients from a variety of units. The conditions at each worksite vary greatly: inside, outside, physical, stationary, skilled labor to light assembly, etc. Applicants must be able to work on their feet most of the day, walk distances, and be able to push, lift, carry 25-50 lbs. Other duties include but are not limited to assisting with the following: tool control, providing trainings to staff and patients, patient payroll, processing prevailing wages and time studies, scheduling patients for work assignments, assisting with ordering supplies for worksites, ensuring policies procedures and vocational regulations are followed, writing treatment plan objectives and Vocational Rehabilitation Assessments all while maintaining a focus on safety for everyone.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
It is also highly desirable for the candidate to have Defensive Driving and be able to drive the van safely. Familiarity with Excel is key as you will be involved in making schedule changes for providers as well maintaining spreadsheets for various functions within the department. Experience as a residential SPT is highly desirable as well as experience in off unit treatment.
