Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full Time, Senior Psychologist (Specialist).
Under the supervision of the Chief Psychologist and/or Senior Psychologist Supervisor, applies psychological knowledge and techniques to the assessment, management, and treatment of severe aggression in a specialized forensic unit. Develops, implements, coordinates, conducts and maintains specialized treatment programming and related curriculum; provides staff training; serves as expert consultant to unit staff, program management, and treatment teams throughout DSH-Patton. Addresses various other aggression assessment and treatment related issues as needed. Services are provided in accordance with established program policies and procedures.
Functions as the unit psychologist for a specialized unit for treatment of patients at highest risk for violence. Conducts evidence-based group and individual therapy with the focus of aggression reduction; completes psychological and behavioral evaluations. Develop and implement behavioral interventions. Construct case formulations and progress notes; participate as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team. Provide group treatment to patients as needed. Provide direct crisis intervention or psychotherapeutic services to patients as clinically indicated, and consistent with stated program goals, and commensurate with clinical privileges and professional expertise.
Applicants must possess a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology and possession of an earned Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an educational institution meeting the criteria of Section 2914 of the Medical Board of California's Business and Professions Code AND either: a) One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Psychologist (Health Facility) (any specialty), or Staff Psychologist (any specialty) OR b) Two years of postdoctoral, post-internship experience in the practice of psychology involving assessment and treatment and either training, research, consultation, or program planning in mental health services.
