We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk Manager to join our Global High-Risk Deals Desk (HRDD). The HRDD has been established to manage a robust set of controls and provide compliance oversight to drive improvements in Microsoft's exposure for high risk deals. The HRDD team member will be the first line of defense for anti-corruption controls by performing compliance checks for a selected number of licensing and/or services deals. This role will require significant coordination with multiple internal stakeholders to gather information on the deal and ensure all risks are effectively managed. The role also involves driving significant process and program improvement to further reduce risk exposure.

Responsibilities:

  • Deal Reviews: Performing HRDD controls and recommending corrective actions to resolve non-compliance. Ensure timely execution of deal reviews and where necessary appropriate mitigations put in place. All required evidence stored and available for audit. Effective management of communications and escalations.
  • Deal Reviews Data Management: Reviewing and documenting deal reviews and status reporting of referred and flagged deals. Keeping tools clean and up to date for having near real-time deal review status.
  • Deal Review outcomes and learnings: Providing insight into outcomes of deal reviews to all impacted parties including Subsidiary, Business Desk, Corporate External and Legal Affairs (CELA), local Controls and Compliance (C&C) and OLC.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Build relationships with multiple internal stakeholders across the deal lifecycle (e.g. Commercial Executives , Licensing Executives, Account Executives, Program Owners, CELA, Controls and Compliance groups, Operations, Finance functions) to help advance a culture of governance and compliance in Microsoft. Training key stakeholders on compliance and HRDD checkpoints for improving compliant sales deal execution.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build engagement with subsidiary and compliance stakeholders for ensuring pro-active deal management and for improved visibility, reporting and best practice sharing.

Qualifications:

Required/minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in finance or related field AND 4+ years experience in finance, operations, risk management, compliance, regulatory or other governance and control related roles
    • OR equivalent experience .
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or related field AND 8+ years experience in finance or financial compliance
    • OR Master's Degree in finance or related field AND 6+ years experience in finance or financial compliance
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English and Portuguese language
  • Attention to detail and judgement to make decisions in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to build impactful collaboration with stakeholders that enhances a culture of compliance
  • Knowledge of the different Licensing programs (Enterprise Agreement, Cloud Solution Provider , Azure, etc.) and the Services businesses would be an advantage.
  • Experience in deal risk management, legal / regulatory controls, policy creation, or enforcement would be an advantage.
Finance Compliance IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
