Job Description

General tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Design, develop (code/test) and implement innovative enterprise applications/solutions to meet the varying needs of our customers throughout NYC Health + Hospitals.
  • Support software testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding software enhancements
  • Apply knowledge of software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations
  • Conduct requirements gathering and analysis to understand software problems and/or functionality
  • Perform complex solutions and work on multi-dimensional projects
  • Develop and support enterprise web applications
  • Develop technical specifications and plans in multi-tier design and programming
  • Transform business functional requirements into technical solutions
  • Code, debug and troubleshoot with a solid understanding of relational databases and data models
  • Support and maintain applications within the production environment. Work with end users to troubleshoot and find the root cause of issues
  • Write Unit Tests to validate development releases


Minimum Qualifications

  1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; and
  2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in the field of data processing, computer systems and applications.
    1. Operations Specialty requires supervisory experience (5 years).
    2. Network Services requires a telecommunications background and experience.
  3. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or
  4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.


Department Preferences

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
  • A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
  • 8-10 years' experience in Application Development and software design.

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; effective team player
  • Knowledge of Entity Framework and Team Foundation Server

KNOWLEDGEABLE IN:
  • Software design and programming principles.
  • Front end UI design.
  • Object Oriented Design Principles and development.
  • Data structures, system design, and algorithms.

COMPUTER PROGRAMS/SOFTWARE OPERATED:
  • Proven experience with Microsoft .NET technologies including, ASP.NET, ADO.NET AngularJS, JQuery, Highcharts, D3 Charts, LINQ, AJAX, WebServices, Winforms, SharePoint, MVC, SQL Server, XML, JSon, Oracle.
  • Languages: C#, VB.Net, SQL/T-SQL, JavaScript/DHTML, VBScript, HTML, XML.
