About the Role

The Storage-Platform team at Uber is responsible for all the real-time online storage services that power every customer trip and delivery at Uber. The team builds and runs high-availability high-performance low-latency high-efficiency distributed-database services that are being hit millions of times per second by the products & apps at Uber.

Your role will be pivotal in shaping scalable systems with efficient coding practices. You will be a collaborative role model and an accessible leader, offering valuable insights and perspectives within a larger team.

Job Requirements:

- Design, implement and operate Uber's distributed database technologies, including (e.g., [Docstore](https://www.uber.com/blog/dynamodb-to-docstore-migration/),Cassandra, Redis).
- Drive and develop the future our database systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in databases to continuously enhance our systems and processes

Basic Qualifications:

- A proven track record of excellence at the Senior Staff Engineer level or higher within a leading technology company
- Degree in Computer Science with at least 8 years of industry experience.
- Expertise in data structures & algorithms, distributed systems and distributed databases
- Developing and operating high-availability high-performance live services
- In-depth, hands-on experience with large-scale database deployments in a production environment.
- Solid understanding of distributed database architecture, performance tuning and reliability.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in cloud distributed databases (e.g., Dynamo DB, Spanner, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, etc).

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$252,000 per year - USD$280,000 per year.

For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$252,000 per year - USD$280,000 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$252,000 per year - USD$280,000 per year.

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
