As part of a talented, high-performing, and diverse team, the Information Technology Specialist II will serve as a Senior Storage and Data Protection Engineer responsible for the implementation and management of the Department of Water Resources (DWR) and California Natural Resource Agency's (CNRA) storage and backup/recovery systems. This includes architecting, implementing, and operating the DWR/CNRA storage infrastructure in public, private and hybrid cloud environments as well as managing all remote storage sites throughout the DWR/CNRA statewide network. This critical position ensures the availability, reliability, scalability, and manageability of DWR and CNRA's data storage and backup/recovery environment that supports the information technology infrastructure of DWR and CNRA in alignment with the Department's programs, strategic goals and business objectives. This position will work closely with other infrastructure teams, engineering architects, business units, outside business partners and vendors to support, administer, and develop enterprise storage and data protection solutions to meet these goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess: (1) Strong knowledge of and experience in managing highly available, mission critical storage infrastructures in data center and cloud environments; (2) in-depth storage expertise in Netapp, ONTAP, Pure Storage, Brocade SAN solutions, Netapp Cloud Insights, enterprise Storage Area Network (SAN), enterprise Network Attached Storage (NAS), AWS cloud storage, Azure; (3) experience with administration and backup/recovery procedures for Commvault enterprise backup and recovery solutions; (4) ability to perform enterprise storage capacity planning; (5) skills to independently troubleshoot and provide support services; (6) ability to work with other infrastructure teams to resolve production issues and engineer new solutions; (7) a history of preparing sustainable documentation; (8) strong organizational, analytical and deductive reasoning skills; (9) a passion for process improvement, problem solving and providing excellent customer service.
