In the role of Senior Structural Engineer-Renewable Energy, we'll count on you to:

• Use senior-level technical expertise to consider a broad range of engineering solutions and develop solutions to complex problems related to dams, powerhouses, fish and eel passages, intake and outlet structures, and water conveyances.

• Plan and lead structural design efforts, including development of design criteria documents, calculation packages, and drawing and specifications packages, for a variety of project types across North America.

• Serve in a senior technical role on a variety of projects where you will oversee the completeness and accuracy of the project team's work within the structural discipline.

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to younger staff.

• Responsible for adherence to scope, schedule, and budget on projects of varying size and complexity.

• Periodically assist in marketing activities, including development of scope of work and level of effort for a variety of structural projects.

• Periodically perform field work including site inspections, construction site visits, dam and powerhouse inspections, penstock inspections, and other dam safety assessments as needed. This will require overnight travel on occasion.

• Lead structural discipline delivery on larger, multi-disciplinary projects.

• Periodically act as project manager on smaller projects with a limited team size.

• Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Experience with hydroelectric projects, dams/levees, hydraulic structures, heavy civil, or power and industrial projects. Experience with other water resource facilities will also be considered.
  • Cross disciplinary experience with structural and geotechnical projects, such as dam assessments and inspection, retaining wall design and analysis, post-tensioned anchorage design and analysis, seismic analysis and or similar work is a plus
  • Local candidates preferred

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years structural engineering experience as it relates to building design
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
  • Experience in design calculations and layouts
  • Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
  • Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
