Senior Tax Analyst - Avalara for Accountants

What You'll Do

We are looking for a Senior Tax Analyst to join our Managed Returns for Accountants team. You will report directly to the Sr, Manager of Managed Returns for Accountants and will work on a hybrid or remote schedule. As a member of the Managed Returns for Accountants team, you will provide a high level of service to accounting firms signed up for the returns service and serve as their primary contact. To succeed, you must be comfortable taking ownership of your firm's overall satisfaction and you must be empathetic to customer needs. Compliance is complex, so your ability to set expectations and relay information in an easily understood manner is essential.

Additionally, you will:

• Prepare, review, and file multi-jurisdictional sales/use, business and occupation, and gross receipts tax returns for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual filings.
• Troubleshoot technical questions from accounting firms regarding the technology and/or client set up
• Perform the on-boarding and validation of new sales/use tax returns and report discrepancies back to accounting firms
• Research and resolve jurisdictional notices on behalf of the firm's clients.
• Improve and trouble shoot automation to serve our clients across a variety of markets
• Perform QA related to sales and use tax content and form changes.
• Identify ways to improve process and/or technology to better serve our clients.
• Work collaboratively with all staff members and management.

What You'll Need to be Successful

• You have 5 years or more of related experience with a Bachelor's degree
• You enjoy facilitating communication of complex concepts
• You enjoy a mix of independent work and supporting team members
• You have advanced Excel skills (functions include power pivot, VLOOKUP, etc.)
• You have worked in Public Accounting, large corporate tax department of a multinational company, or large ERP integration.
