Job Description

Cape Fox is seeking a highly qualified professional to join our team in support of a government customer. The remote Senior Technical Writer/Editor will be responsible for researching, organizing, writing, editing, and producing data for a wide variety of highly complex technical publications. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced, high-volume environment. This position is contingent upon award. This position will be REMOTE.

Core Duties:
  • Apply writing and editing skills and specialized vocabulary of appropriate subject-matter fields to develop and review accurate communication materials with environmental, scientific, and technical information suited to various audiences.
  • Gather technical information from subject matter experts and others and apply experience in editing to analyze, interpret, and integrate technical information in various formats.
  • Prepare products developed by others for publication and ensure the materials are clear, comprehensible, logical, and that conclusions are valid and supported by references to facts.
  • Review documents and written materials to ensure communications products are consistent with DOI policy, adhere to Section 508 Compliance requirements, meet BOEM style requirements, and are written at an appropriate level for the intended audiences.
  • Articulate, explain, write, and edit technical information clearly without sacrificing thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Advise and assist in the writing phase of documents and reports, consult on design and graphics, ensure 508 compliance requirements are incorporated, and prepare material for printing or posting on the website and other social media.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with OREP's scientific and technical experts to ensure accuracy and quality of the content of documents and information.
  • Recommend overall organization and layout, editorial standards, and publication methods.
  • Coordinates publication with outside sources and vendors.
  • Develop department editing standards and styles.
  • Check document for spelling, grammar, and content problems.
  • Interview engineers and other technical personnel, as needed.
  • May provide task direction to team members.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience of at least three (3) years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical writing and environmental compliance
  • Knowledge of documentation and procedures.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Must have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
