ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Maintains and repairs APS vehicles including gas- and diesel-powered engines in regular duty and heavy equipment vehicles.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, brake and drive train systems using on-board and standalone diagnostic equipment.
- Responds to emergency calls, troubleshooting, repairs, and restorations as needed.
- Works overtime to complete necessary repairs as directed by the immediate supervisor.
- Operates a variety of vehicles to transport materials to various job sites and loads supplies as needed.
- Determines supplies needed from work orders and job site assessment and obtains materials from warehouse.
- Obtains and reviews written and verbal work orders and requests from immediate supervisor.
- Ensures appropriate site-based personnel review and sign work orders upon arrival and departure.
- Cleans work site properly after the completion of duties.
- Performs work following all applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
- Estimates costs and material needs for all jobs.
- Performs necessary preparations and installations to create interfaces with new and existing work.
- Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable workmanship, consistent with specifications
D UTIES: In addition to the essential functions of this job, the incumbent must perform the following duties:

- Knowledge of installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of gas- and diesel-powered engines.
- Proficiency in the use of testing equipment and other hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of all applicable codes, regulations, and laws.
- Knowledge of on-board diagnostics and troubleshooting, electrical, hydraulics and mechanical systems, break jobs, tune-ups, clutches, drive train and other types of repairs.
- Ability to work varying shift assignments as needed.
- Four years of experience in auto mechanics and fleet maintenance.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND LICENSURE: The minimum requirements for this job are as follows:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Vocational or trade school in automotive mechanics certification.
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment physical examination
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment skills test.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or permit with insurable driving record.
- If hired with a permit, must obtain a CDL within six (6) months of hire.
- Four years of experience in auto mechanics and fleet maintenance.
