Your Opportunity

The role of a Senior Transportation Engineer/Project Manager is to lead engineering teams on large projects. As a leader they will be responsible for preparing designs and ensuring the development and delivery of successful civil projects such as bridges, railroads, roads, airports, harbors, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, tunnels, and power plants.

A Senior Transportation Engineer/Project Manager will lead design; provide direct supervision; act as an advisor and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems. They will be responsible for managing the scope and integration of subcontractors and employees. It is expected that the Senior Transportation Engineer/Project Manager supports business development and the delivery of proposals.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Client management and development including coordinating project pursuits, proposal preparation and negotiation.
  • Liaise with clients, agencies and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals.
  • Project management including invoicing, managing and monitoring financial performance of project budgets using PM dashboard access.
  • Performing as a senior technical lead in the development of concepts, reports, studies, and design development.
  • Prepare complex engineering designs and plans for urban and rural roadways and highways.
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.
  • Responsible for design, review and sealing of assigned projects.
  • Lead the work of other engineers, designers, and develop junior staff.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
  • Occasional inter and intrastate travel to support projects and pursuits.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Strong client interaction and relationship skills.
  • Understands client expectations, budgeting, proposal writing, invoicing and collecting accounts receivable.
  • Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and able to work on and lead teams.
  • Managing all aspects of highway/roadway infrastructure development including transportation planning and traffic engineering, corridor studies, project development, and design.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, MicroStation, OpenRoads, and other relevant design software.
  • Strong knowledge of the KYTC requirements, procedures, and PS&E plan production.
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Valid driver's license. Good driving record.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Kentucky
  • Minimum of 15 years of project management and highway/roadway transportation planning and/or design experience

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.
