AWS Industry Products is seeking a Senior UX Writer to join our global research and design team. We are looking for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced startup-like environment and bring passion for solving complex product design problems at scale. Our team is chartered to design next generation AWS products for industries such as automotive, manufacturing, clean energy, sustainability, media-entertainment, healthcare and life sciences. We partner with industry leaders to unblock entire industry with new business models, drive step changes in efficiency, and enable transformative business outcomes.

Key job responsibilities

The Senior UX Writer will work with product, design and engineering in collaboration with global industry customers. You will take technical and abstract concepts and turn them into compelling and meaningful content for personas like builders, business users and technology buyers . You must be mission-driven, creative, and independently motivated to succeed.

As a Senior UX Writer, you will:

- Write and edit end-user documentation describing AWS Industry Products and Services, and troubleshooting processes.

- Collaborate with the Product, Design and Engineering teams to optimize and maintain external content for usability and accessibility, while maintaining a high bar for quality.

- Use writing expertise and extraordinary attention to detail to evaluate, uphold, implement, and evangelize content standards that reflect the voice of AWS.

- Work collaboratively with internal global stakeholders to conceptualize and develop content that strengthens the AWS brand.

- Create, maintain, and edit user guides that are used by a wide audience with varying skill levels.

- Manage all aspects of the documentation process - planning, testing, maintaining, and delivery.

- Review and triage incoming customer feedback.

- Use metrics to identify under-performing content and present/implement a plan for improvement.

- Champion content-first approaches and opportunities.

A day in the life

- Collaborate with product manager, UX designers, solution architect, and engineers to drive technical writing activities

- Create content assets like technical documentation, in-product help, user guides et al.

- Help product manager prioritize high-value use cases for content development

- Validate and refine content using customer feedback

- Support smaller UX writing needs by holding UX writing office hours and establishing writing guidelines for a portfolio of industry products.

- Review content created by product, design and engineering teams

- Coach product teams on raising the bar on technical writing

About the team: AWS Industry Products Design team is spread globally, with the majority of the team based in the US. While the Design team operates in a distributed working model, team members work out of Amazon offices and team hubs. Design team members travel as needed to conduct user research, facilitate internal workshops, and collaborate with customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 8+ years of UX/Technical writing experience

- 4+ years of technical writing for products and services like AWS, and Enterprise SaaS applications including experience documenting APIs

- A portfolio of relevant content samples with a UX focus, including examples of problems you helped solve, your contributions, and the customer impact

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Understanding of content needs of personas like developers, cloud architects, technology buyers and business users of enterprise applications

- Ability to break down complex topics into concise customer-friendly content

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Experience working with cross-functional product teams

- Ability to synthesize feedback and input from multiple stakeholders

- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize UX writing activities

- Experience with UX writing for complex workflows and enterprise users

- Familiarity with AWS services or cloud-based environments

- Ability to work with stakeholders across functional competencies and management levels

- Experience in UX writing for products with large scope and complexity

- Experience working in an agile development environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $96,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
