The Senior Video Producer captures and produces educational/instructional video, photography and multimedia work and provides creative and technical decision-making that enhances the effectiveness and aesthetic quality of educational/instructional content in online and hybrid courses. This position determines, organizes, coordinates and schedule’s locations, equipment, and production staff; and provides technical/creative design and direction to produce desired effects. This position also provides creative and technical decision-making in the integration/optimization of video and photography equipment for educational/instructional use. The position ensures that all university standards for high quality educational/instructional video content are met.

This position works directly with UNCW faculty, instructional designers, instructional technologists, ITS and Media Production in capturing and editing educational/instructional videos for digital distribution in the support of high quality online and hybrid instruction. The producer oversees the quality and progress for all aspects of educational/instructional video production. The Senior Video Producer’s other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Utilizes professional-grade equipment to edit video, motion graphics, sound, music and stills to create a story/program/promotion that captures pre-production concepts and requests
  • Researches equipment and software upgrades
  • Recognizes the compatibilities/incompatibilities of software(s) and hardware(s) and any additional training that may be involved
  • Mentors and provides guidance as necessary to staff and students
  • Creates (shooting, producing, and editing) instructional videos as requested across campus
  • Manages, maintains, and operates three individual video studios
  • Manages, maintains, and operates a mobile video system
  • Plans field videography (on-location) shoots as requested
  • Creates custom-built video graphics for specific faculty needs
  • Trains other UNCW technical staff on professional videography technologies and techniques
  • Serves as liaison to UNCW faculty for planning and production issues concerning videography
  • Serves as liaison to UNCW faculty, Media Production and ITS for technical compliance and standardization issues concerning videography
  • Customer service skills and ability to maintain and expand faculty services to a larger campus audience
  • Works with the data analytics management system for DE reporting of instructional videography use in online and hybrid education programs
  • Creates and provides DEeL training sessions and materials for faculty and staff on various professional videography technologies and techniques
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience related to the area of assignment in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
  • College degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a broadcast and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience and expertise with video technology and advanced knowledge of video technology platforms.
  • Experience with green screen video production and post-production.
  • Advanced technology skills required
  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Cloud software (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Audition)
  • Advanced experience with multiple videography platforms, including iMovie, Adobe Premier, and Final Cut is preferred along with various software platforms for video rendering and conversion
  • Experience with online video platforms, including Zoom, Echo360, etc..
  • Ability to learn quickly and independently when it comes to using software, hardware, and various web applications.
