Senior Water Resource Control Engineer (Specialist)

This is a Limited Term (LT) position and may be extended up to 24 months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. If becoming permanent, the selected candidate must have eligibility for a permanent appointment at the time of the LT appointment or at the time of the conversion.

The Division of Drinking Water is recruiting for a Senior Water Resource Control Engineer (Specialist) to work in the Program Management Branch, Technical Operations Section. The position will be located at one of the Division of Drinking Water's field offices:

Under the general direction of a Supervising Water Resources Control Engineer in the Technical Operations Section, the incumbent will perform varied and complex technical, engineering, and analytical tasks. The applicants can review the Duty Statement attached.

An experienced professional, knowledgeable in drinking water and recycled water uses and treatment technologies, and familiar with California building standards, environmental laws, and water recycling regulations. The candidate should have knowledge and experience with research, local jurisdiction program development and implementation, and interpreting laws, rules and regulations. The candidate should also have the ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative and interact effectively with the public, other state and federal agencies, and California Environmental Protection Agency boards and departments. Candidates should possess the ability to think and write clearly, recognize and evaluate problems proactively, and take effective and appropriate action. The ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with internal staff, stakeholders, and the public as well as prioritize and schedule work efficiently is essential. The successful candidate should also possess mature judgment, poise, tact, and loyalty. Excellent attendance and punctuality, strong organizational skills, and adaptability in a fast-paced, challenging environment are vital attributes for the successful candidate.
