DESCRIPTION

Provides operational leadership for two Multi-Specialty clinics and direct oversight of clinical operations for the Rheumatology Service Line by collaborating with key members of the division's leadership team including the Operations Director, Clinical Medical Director and Division Chief. Works with these individuals, faculty and staff to develop and deliver an efficient, high-volume, high-quality, patient-centered experience to support the Division and Department of Medicine's research, education, and clinical care missions. Partners with other site managers/staff in support of multiple sub-specialty medicine clinics.

Key responsibilities include, patient experience, personnel management, operational support to clinical faculty and staff, process and work flow evaluations/enhancements, equipment and facilities management, information technology, safety, and data extracting and reporting.

Supervises and develops clinical and administrative personnel including area leads, nurses, medical assistants, call center and front desk personnel, administrative and student workers. Responsible for employee recruitment, performance evaluation, progressive discipline, and staff development. Works collaboratively with Labor Relations on bargaining unit issues and contract negotiations at the local level. Promotes a workplace culture with a focus on meeting or exceeding patient service standards. Develops an environment that encourages creativity, efficiency, engagement, quality of care, safety, and innovations in operations.

Ensures compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Research, develop, and recommend internal policies and procedures for identifying, eliminating or mitigating risk management issues within the practice(s). Oversee all TJC requirements and CQI projects throughout the division. Implements quality improvement systems. Assures internal policies and external regulations are followed in regards to billing and coding practices and cash handling.

Work closely and collaboratively with CMD, faculty and staff, revenue cycle, centralized registration and authorizations, UCSD Health Physician Group (UCSD-PG) administrators and leadership, and other key stakeholders to optimize clinical operations. Recommends allocation of staff, space, equipment, and other resources to optimize the delivery of clinical services.

Purposes, implements and monitors current and forecasted clinic performance, to include revenues, costs and reimbursements. Researches and prepares proposals for facilities expansion, satellite development, construction, space planning, capital equipment requests, and staffing needs. Implements processes and metrics to assure viability of existing programs and practice patient and staffing patterns, and optimize productivity, recommends operational performance improvements that impact marketability and service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare administration or related area; and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
  • A minimum of seven (7+) or more years of relevant experience to include but not limited to; Clinic Management, Finance, Human Resources, Strategic Planning, Forecasting and Program Growth.
  • Previous experience with managing staff in multiple locations.
  • Experience and proven success in clinic/center management experience, with progressive expertise in practice management, scheduling, customer-service methods, incident reporting, regulatory compliance, accreditation requirements, and information technology.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Lean and Six-Sigma Certification.
  • Master's Degree in healthcare administration, public health, or business.
  • Previous EPIC experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $104,900 - $198,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $50.24 - $95.26

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
