Job Duties

The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as a Service Owner - Data/Networking.

Key Responsibilities:

The Service Owner is the key resource overseeing the supplier (Verizon) and is instrumental in the relationship, contractual deliverables, new services, billing, and all issues/actions with services.

The VDN Service Owner takes on a more dynamic and key supplier as multiple technologies are being used and developed in a centralized and remote fashion. SME expertise on Network architecture, routing, and security enables oversight and solutioning.

This position plays a key role as the Data Service Owner and may be included in the Duty manager role for the Platform.

Minimum Qualifications

Competitive candidates will meet these minimum qualifications:

Extensive knowledge and experience with Data, Network Monitoring, and Voice services technologies, standards, and practices.

Ability to oversee the Data Networking services lifecycle from strategic planning to operations and financials and the ability to communicate with Executive leadership.

Data Networking expertise required to specify business requirements for current & future services.

Ability to perform Data Networking technology and operational assessments to manage portfolio.

Excellent technical awareness and understanding of technology and process for managing Data Networking services including applications in use.

Extensive knowledge and experience with large multitenant WAN/LAN/SD-WAN networks.

General knowledge and understanding of Network security and Cloud Network Connectivity standards (AWS/Azure), and best practices.

Experience in managing networking incidents and leading them to resolution.

Extensive knowledge of network monitoring tools, data, and the ability to perform analysis on the data.

Understands best practices in service management including contract and vendor management in an outsourcing or shared service environment.

Proven ability to manage delivery of services to negotiated Service Level Agreements (internal and external).

Knowledge managing a multi-sourcing service integration.

Additional Considerations

Competitive candidates should meet these additional considerations:

Experience working in State Government/Agency.

ITIL Foundations certification desirable.

Highly skilled experience with large multitenant WAN/LAN/SD-WAN networks (Verizon Managed services/MPLS experience preferred/Cisco SD-WAN) as well as VRF (virtual route forwarding) to include BGP routing knowledge.

Network monitoring experience.

Experience with network security and cloud network connectivity.

Experience creating and evaluating RFPs for Converged Voice, Video and Data Networks.
