Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. has a contingent job opportunity for a full-time Shipboard Electrical Technician II in Norfolk, VA.

Summary: The Shipboard Electrical Technician II will provide full-time Shipboard Electrical support to Mid Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) Code 260.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support for various assessments, inspections, and technical assistance as tasked via separate correspondence.
  • Provide technical assistance, assessment, inspections, corrective actions, and groom support as tasked for Division 200 cognizant shipboard equipment.
  • Conduct cold/hot checks to determine equipment condition and identify parameters that are out of specification. Observe operation of the equipment by ship's force to witness the full range of performance where possible.
  • Utilize appropriate measuring equipment to obtain data for evaluation.
  • Evaluate findings of the cold and operational checks and make adjustments and repairs to the maximum extent possible during the time available.
  • Provide written visit debrief/reports to the SME upon completion of each ship visit.
  • Attend conferences, seminars, etc. and report results to the SME as required.
  • Provide on the job training to Ship's Force (S/F) during shipboard evolutions.
  • May require travel 10% or greater.
  • May require overtime.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in availability planning, modernization, repair and testing of shipboard equipment and systems such as DDG Electrical /IC equipment and systems, LSD/LPD Electrical/IC equipment and systems, and Surface Shipboard Electrical/IC.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in administration of the Navy 3-M and supply system.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a technical instructor and IMA Quality assurance inspector.
  • Current certification as a level 1 thermographer (Infrared Survey) and have 2 years general electrical/IC experience onboard marine vessels is desirable.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, inspections, visit processes and reporting methods for visits
  • Demonstrate regularly using accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment.
  • Demonstrate ability for interpreting ship's drawings, wiring diagrams and control schematics as required to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes.
  • Familiarity with JFMM guidelines and policies.
  • Comply with NAVSEA standard items.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Functional knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active SECRET clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years' experience within the last 10 years with shipboard power distribution, interior communication or electronic systems repair and maintenance including qualification as a CIC Watch Supervisor or Chief Electrical Watch on a conventional powered ship or as load dispatcher on a nuclear-powered ship or similar commercial qualification.

  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions.
  • Job may require bending, stooping, lifting.
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
  • May require wearing a respirator.
  • Most work is performed aboard ships or in industrial conditions.
  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States
