POSITION TITLE: Shop Foreman

RESPONSIBLE TO: Superintendent

REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Valid Commercial Driver's License
3. Valid Alabama State Department of Education School Bus Driver's Certificate - to be renewed annually
4. Possess Alabama Department of Education Certificate of Completion for School Bus Mechanic
5. Satisfactory driving record
6. Satisfactory pre-employment drug screening
7. Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills
8. Experience in computer operations and in preparing reports

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Supervise the day-to-day operations of the bus garage, including supervising mechanics and parts specialist.
2. Assist Transportation Supervisor with scheduling appropriate training/professional development for mechanics and parts specialist.
3. Oversee maintenance schedule of buses and fleet vehicles as required by the ALSDE Pupil Transportation Department.
4. Oversee all warranty claims with manufacturers, vendors, and parts service providers.
5. Assist in diagnosing, trouble shooting, assigning, and repairing all buses and fleet vehicles, including final inspections as necessary.
6. Oversee inspection and maintenance records of buses and all fleet vehicles as required by the ALSDE Pupil Transportation Department.
7. Oversee the district's on-site automated fuel systems for all locations, including planned and unplanned maintenance of individual fuel site locations, physically check fuel sites and tanks.
8. Adhere to all federal, state, and local compliances in regards to district-wide onsite fuel tanks and fuel pumps.
9. Maintain bus cameras and bus radios to ensure both are working properly monthly.
10. Assist with monitoring bus video periodically to ensure bus driver and student safety.
11. Assist with pulling bus video for school administrators, law enforcement, and/or other authorized ACBOE personnel when requested.
12. Assist Transportation Supervisor in preparing and implementing a budget for the Transportation Department when requested.
13. Assist Transportation Supervisor in specification process for new bus purchases, white fleet vehicles, and necessary shop equipment.
14. Transport ACBOE students when needed.
15. Perform any other duties as assigned.

JOB GOAL:
To keep county cars and buses in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.
