Sign Language Interpreter - Special Education Department

Sign Language Interpreter (9-month position)

Applicant will provide expressive (may include American Sign Language and/or manually coded English) and voice interpreting for hearing-impaired student(s). Applicant must hold a current permit or license issued by the Alabama Board of Interpreters and Transliterators. A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and ONE of the following qualifications: Successful completion of at least two years (48 semester hours) of study at an institution of higher education, or an Associate's Degree documented on an official transcript from an accredited institution of higher education, or met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing, and mathematics. Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
