Job Description

General Purpose of Job:

Utilizing high frequency sound waves provide diagnostic images of a wide variety of examinations (abdomen, OB/GYN, vascular, small parts, neurosonography and echo's) to diagnose the absence or presence of disease.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

  • Analyzes disease processes with the use of ultrasound through the selection of appropriate procedures and techniques.
  • Coordinates post and present medical history of patient in reference to ultrasound examinations.
  • Schedules and instructs the patient in reference to ultrasound.
  • Reviews current imaging techniques and interpretations to assure current information.
  • Furnishes occasional immediate results to appropriate medical personnel derived from ultrasound procedure.
  • Performs basic equipment maintenance and quality assurance.
  • Compiles a daily log of patients.
  • Provides assistance and guidance as needed to Non-Registered Sonographers.
  • Maintains stock supplies and performs general office duties.
  • Prepares and schedules patients for examinations.
  • Prepares material, supplies, jackets and most recent examination for next day procedures.


Job Requirements

General Requirements

Registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)

Work Experience

Previous x-ray experience. preferred

Education

Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound program

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Possesses skills and knowledge of cross section anatomy.
