The SOARING program prepares CNA's to practice in an advanced direct patient care role through an 6-week instructor led internship. The program is based on the core values of success, ownership, accountability, responsibility, respect, independence, integration, and growth. Graduates of the SOARING program provide highly skilled and compassionate patient- and family-centered care as a contributing member of the health care team. Clinical Technicians at The Johns Hopkins Hospital have the opportunity to provide highly skilled and compassionate patient- and family-centered care as a contributing member of the health care team. Ongoing education is provided to all Clinical Technicians to ensure that all techs perform at the highest level of their certification and scope of practice. During your first year, you will have the opportunity to attend eight days of training off the unit, which provide interactive learning activities to support your personal and professional development.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, and successful completion of a "Patient Care Technician" or "Advanced Patient Care Skills" course at one of the following colleges:
  1. Anne Arundel Community College: Advanced Patient Care Technician
  2. Baltimore City Community College: Patient Care Technician
  3. Community College of Baltimore County: Patient Care Technician
  4. Howard Community College: Advanced Patient Care Skills
  5. Frederick Community College
  6. Prince George's Community College

Certification, Licensure, etc: Certified Nursing Assistant license active on the MBON. Active CPR certification provided by American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
