Clinical Social Worker, / PART TIME/ 20 Hours/ MGH- Psychiatry

$3,000 sign on bonus for eligible non MGB employees

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic individual with excellent clinical, collaborative and consultation skills to join the newly established MGH Employee Clinic in the Department of Psychiatry. The Employee Clinic provides exceptional and evidence-based assessment and treatment for MGH employees. The mission of the clinic is to provide timely access to diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning. Using a stepped-care approach, patients will be triaged into guided self-help, group therapy, psychopharmacological consultation, medication management, or time-limited individual therapy depending on severity and clinical need. In some cases, patients will also need referrals to specialty resources within MGB or outside resources within their community.

The part-time (20 hours/week) clinical social worker will provide a mix of outpatient care and case management within an interdisciplinary team that also includes psychiatrists and psychologists. The social worker will track patient flow within the clinic. This employee will work alongside the team to provide a mix of case management and time-limited and evidence-based psychotherapy for a variety of presenting problems (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and assist with resource finding for patients with needs that fall outside the scope of Employee Clinic.
  • Provide supportive counseling to patients experiencing psychosocial stress, loss and/or grief, interpersonal or relationship difficulties, or adjustment to illness.
  • Operating flexibly within the treatment relationship, the Clinical Social Worker will utilize various frameworks and modalities including problem solving, coaching, CBT and DBT techniques when clinically indicated.
  • Assist in formulation of treatment plans and disposition.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and facilitate presentation of intakes, updating data on presenting problems and disposition.
  • Collaborate with other mental health providers to provide multidisciplinary patient care.
  • Assist in the assessment of patients when abuse is suspected (of a child, disabled adult, elder) and specialized safety assessment when violence is suspected.
  • Participate in formal and informal clinical case reviews and seminars as appropriate.
  • Document in accordance with professional and institutional requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program required.
  • Massachusetts Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) required.
  • (LCSW would be considered for a case management position)
  • A minimum 3-5 years working in the mental health field is preferred.
