QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from an Accredited College or University
  2. Licensure by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners
  3. Successful professional social work experience with children and/or adolescents preferred.
  4. Experience in an education environment preferred.
  5. Good interpersonal skills
  6. Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
  7. Valid Alabama Driver's License

JOB GOAL: Provides social services to assist targeted students and families

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Assist with the educational program of targeted students of Madison County.
  2. Provide support, referral, and follow-up services for targeted students.
  3. Assist with establishing and implementing a plan of action for targeted students.
  4. Assist schools, school nurses, and families in obtaining social and/or health services for targeted students.
  5. Conduct home visits as a liaison between school and home.
  6. Assist school officials, teachers, and parents with developing a plan of action for targeted students who are at-risk for dropping out of school and/or having attendance or behavioral problems.
  7. Serve as an advisor to administrators, counselors, and teachers concerning needs of targeted students
  8. Be regular and punctual in attendance.
  9. Assist district or school personnel in communications with the Department of Human Resources, Juvenile Court, and other agencies in cases of neglect, abuse, or abandonment.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned

Duty Days: 187

Salary Range: According to Madison County Schools Salary Schedule. Actual salary will be determined by rank and experience. Current employees with questions regarding step placement on the salary schedule should contact the Personnel Department.
