Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under the supervision of the Chief Psychiatrist or his/her designee, is responsible for the Social Work Services of the Mobile Crisis Unit (MCU). Acts as Clinical Supervisor V, knowledgeable in psychiatric assessment, crisis intervention techniques, and substance use disorders. Provides guidance and direction to staff of the MCU.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides clinical and administrative supervision to the Social Work staff of the Adult Outpatient Unit.
  • Ensures adequate coverage and continuity of patient care at all times.
  • Coordinates staff activities to meet the needs of the Clinic and other programs of the Departments of Psychiatry and Social Work.
  • Increase direct reports, meeting weekly for one hour individually or as a group for formal supervision.
  • Monitors and signs off on staff documentation in electronic medical records- psychosocial assessments, progress notes, and clinical interventions to assure timeliness and appropriateness of care.
  • Prepare yearly Health & Hospital Corporation staff evaluations and/or social work student evaluations
  • Conducts employee counseling and /or disciplinary actions as needed
  • Oversees staff use of time; approves/denies requests for leave in collaboration with the program administration in compliance with Human Resources rules.
  • Supervise Data entry for the EPIC System.
  • Develop user-friendly tools to optimize the usage of the EPIC system for Social Workers.
  • Facilitate in-service training related to Social Work & Adult Outpatient.
  • Participates in the Hospital/Departmental Emergency Response to internal or external disasters.
  • Supervise Social Workers and CLWs assigned to the clinic.
  • Performs other duties assigned by supervisor as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
1. Valid license as an LCSW issued by the NYSED, and two (2) years of supervisory experience.
