Position Overview

The Software Application Engineer for Control System Software works directly with a cross-functional software team, other product managers, and stakeholders. The role includes reviewing, verifying, and creating action plans for customer problem management reports from the field. The ideal candidate should have experience using Extron software configuration and programming tools, working with hardware to simulate real-world setups intending to duplicate a reported issue, and a solid understanding of computer networking fundamentals. The technology landscape with which the control system products integrate is vast and changing rapidly, so this position requires a willingness to learn new things consistently.

Position Requirements
  • BSEE, BSCE, BSCS (New Graduates Welcome).
  • Communication with necessary parties in instances where additional technical detail is required to develop or troubleshoot an Extron Device.
  • Experience working with project management and resource management tools.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP and UDP based IP protocols, network environment design and basic network service support on networked devices.
  • Managing stakeholder and customer expectations in a timely manner, maintaining satisfaction, setting realistic goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written, demonstrable communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in supporting a product or as a general IT support role.
  • Direct or Indirect experience working on installed A/V systems or A/V products.
  • Knowledge of the Python programming language, and experience using a modern integrated development environment solution (IDE).
  • Working with agile software development processes, writing user stories and acceptance criteria to execute an iterative approach to product development.
