Software Dev Engineer II, Alexa Mobile - Devices

Sunnyvale, California

Employer: Amazon
Industry: Software Development
Salary: $115000 per year
Job type: Full-Time

The Alexa Mobile App is used by 10s of millions of customers around the world. The bread and butter of the app is the ability to setup, control and manage your Alexa enabled devices from your mobile device. In fact, those features comprise 95% of all app customer engagement! They help customers connect their Echo devices to the internet, determine where to stream when customers ask for their "dance party" playlist, and determine which camera to show when a customer asks Alexa how their sleeping child is doing. Now is your chance to be an SDE leader and help push forward this highly visible, critically important functionality.

Key job responsibilities

- Designing, building and leading new app and backend projects. Previously app development experience (Android) is a big plus, although not required.

- Working independently as a true project lead and primary SDE point-of-contact.

- Working with engineers from across multiple, two-pizza teams.

- Collaborating with leaders to establish the team's tech strategy.

A day in the life

Alexa Mobile is looking for a SDE to help us take Device Management to the next level. You will create detailed tech designs and lead the implementation of critical projects spanning multiple quarters. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define our product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product. You will work frequently with other senior engineers and given the domain's extreme importance, most of your work will have high visibility.

About the team

Come join a team with a great culture. From our team charter: Work hard, have a lot of fun, and make a difference. We are a cohesive set of SDEs, QAEs, TPMs, and SDMs who are solely focused on our mission while not losing sight of the fact that we need to enjoy being here and the people we work with. We can challenge each other and disagree, but we will do it with a smile on our face through respecting, pushing, and helping each other. We are in this together and will not step on each other to get to the next level. Learning, delivering, and making an impact in the way our organization evolves is our biggest desire. We explore new and interesting technologies to solve our business problems, and we keep our focus on the long-term impact on our changes.
