As a Software Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with engineering, product, clinical / distribution, and customer care teams. You will be expected to deliver testable, maintainable code to support our many ongoing initiatives. Additionally, you will be responsible for participating in design discussions, code review, and communicating with stakeholders, while leveraging technologies such as Java, Typescript, Ruby Lambda, API, Gateway, CDK and relational & key-value databases.

Key job responsibilities

An SDE II provides system and application software design, implementation, and infrastructure including testing support and Operational Excellence as an individual contributor. They seek guidance from senior team members when handling difficult tradeoffs and collaborate effectively with other SDEs, and support the development of new team members.

Within Amazon Pharmacy, an SDE II contributes to the complete software lifecycle of large-scale system and application services impacting the health, safety and customer experience of millions of lives. The SDE II should have a solid understanding of how their design and implementation choices impact quality, speed of delivery, performance & scalability, and interactions with immediate client and dependency systems. They understand how their work fits into the overall Pharmacy and impacts the customer's health and CX.

Within Partner Services, an SDE II individually or with their team delivers major features with high quality and operational excellence within existing services, while seeking guidance from Senior SDEs and PEs for the definition and delivery of new services. SDE II's are familiar with their team's domain and work across their teams' services. They prioritize bias for action and deliver results while working with senior SDEs, PEs, PMs, TPMs, and stakeholders to the right requirements and alignment with the teams' roadmap, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of the right solution for the patient or team customer. They advocate for the quality of the code created by their team, contributing to OE efforts, design and CR, reviews, and working directly with junior team members to maintain a high bar.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 1+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.

- 3+ years of software engineering experience

- 3+ years using Java, C/C++, or similar programming languages

- Experience with AWS products

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with AWS products

- Experience working with healthcare data or similar controlled data

- 4+ years of software engineering experience

- Strong problem solving and analytical abilities

- Agile software development methodologies.
