Within the engineering group in Prime Science, we develop world class solutions to complex scientific and engineering problems at Amazon scale.
As an experienced Software Engineer, you will collaborate with ML scientists, economists and developers across the company to develop, test and deploy AWS services that implement a wide range of econometric and ML models. A successful candidate will have a passion for innovation and excellence, a constant desire to learn cutting-edge technology and science, and excitement about working in a multi-disciplinary environment in a high-impact business domain.
A day in the life
You will develop and own software systems that impact millions of Amazon customers worldwide. You will deliver on foundational systems to help our science teams scale science to delight and optimize customer experiences. You will work alongside leading scientists, data engineers and analysts to deliver in a collaborative and cross functional manner. You will dive deep to understand the science (e.g., ML recommenders or Generative AI), finding innovative ways to combine the latest tech with cutting edge science.

Prime Science Engineering has a mission to scale scientific applications globally and rapidly to delight our customers. We enable foundational systems for science to horizontally scale science across Prime customer experiences. We are focused on operational and engineering excellence as applied to science driven applications. Our systems are used by scientists, marketers, product managers and business leaders on a daily basis, driving significant impact.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing
- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
