We have an exciting opportunity with the Regulatory Intelligence, Safety, and Compliance (RISC) engineering team, to architect and build engineering systems to quickly and accurately identify and mitigate product compliance/safety issues, and potential risks to the customer experience.

As a Software Development Manager, you will work with your team of highly skilled software, data, and ML engineers to invent, design, build and manage highly scalable distributed systems that provide availability, scalability and latency guarantees. You will work with your internal customers to balance customer requirements with team requirements and help your team and business evolve, by working with machine learning models and large data sets. You will be using the latest ML, AWS and industry technologies to deliver a one-stop risk identification and remediation ecosystem for Amazon, keeping our customers safe and products compliant, building the software creating the world's most authoritative data set on everything companies and customers need to know related to the safety and compliance of products and chains.

To succeed in this role, you will have a proven track record of shipping complex software solutions through an agile methodology. You will have the ability to dive deep into the understanding of problems in order to help your team make the right technical decisions for the product and the business. You will have a proven track record of developing the career of your direct reports and setting a high bar for performance. You will also be a strong communicator and will have proven abilities in managing through ambiguous situations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 6+ years of engineering team management experience

- 10+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

- 8+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
