Come lead a team at Amazon Web Services. Elastic Block Store is looking for an experienced software development manager to help us define and build the future of cloud storage and backup. We are working on new products to stretch the backup boundaries to include edge computing. At Exabyte scale, the challenges are unique - you will get opportunities to build systems that process high-rate APIs with low-latency expectations; run big data jobs to analyze patterns, meter and protect the backup data; keep the data local within a customer data center or bring it to cloud; and many more. Key job responsibilities

As a Manager in this team, you will work alongside outstanding engineers and leaders who obsess about performance, availability, scalability and durability of customer data. Your team will be developing features that solve customers' real world problems. As a leader of this team, you will have strong ownership over the design, implementation and operation of a massive scale distributed storage system. You will have the opportunity to work closely with an agile team that ships often, and see the impact your team's code has on a wide range of customers from startups to enterprise companies. As a member of the leadership team you will help set and meet customer-centric goals and you will work with other leaders throughout AWS and help shape our long term technical and business strategy.

A day in the life

The ideal candidate will be excited about the incredible opportunity cloud computing represents, and thrive on building and driving great teams to deliver high quality software. This is a fast paced environment that requires strong technical and business judgment and great communication skills. The ideal candidate would possess strong analytical, design, problem solving skills and experience in building & operating high performance systems at scale. You should have experience working with other senior leaders to define your team's roadmap, and hiring and mentoring engineers. Experience in the storage industry is helpful but not required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience

- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
