Responsibilities: Engineers in this position play a key technical role in the Platform Services team with a focus on building Dynatrace dashboards, configuring and maintaining various alerting strategies, and managing the user population. Key areas of responsibility within this scope include:

  • The design, development, and troubleshooting of a standard, templated set of pod-level dashboards that address various operational perspectives including performance, primary areas of functionality (varies by team), and vertical slices that capture anomalies in the flow of user experiences.
  • The design, development, and troubleshooting of summary-level dashboards that provide system-wide insights into current performance anomalies, latencies, throughput, and traffic levels on a real time basis.
  • The design, development and support of multiple, parallel channels (email, Slack, direct SMS messaging) for alerting key resources in the event of specific issues of degraded functionality across our various product lines.
  • Routinely participating in meetings to create, revise, and/or update either the sources of tracking information or the specific manner in which such information is visualized
  • Routinely track and manage the distribution of Dynatrace OneAgent coverage across Ascension's multiple (5) deployment environments ranging from DEV to PRODUCTION.
  • Routinely manage Dynatrace user access to include new users, rolling off existing users in the face of position reassignments, and the collateral management of Slack notification channels and SMS user authentication.
  • Active monitoring of key dashboards during the rollout of new applications or major revisions to existing software applications.
  • Coordinate with one or more of the Ascension Studio's application development teams and, when required, the vendor, in order to provide a break-fix analysis of assigned Dynatrace incident tickets in order to restore full Dynatrace functionality.

Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.


Work Experience:

  • 1 year of experience required.
  • 4 years of experience preferred.
  • 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred.

Additional Preferences

  • 3+ years of experience in direct use of observability tools including at least 2 years of Cloud experience in the specific use of Dynatrace.
  • Must have good verbal and written English communication skills - being able to articulate architecture concepts and solutions to developers, managers.
  • Experience developing and maintaining detailed and summary level monitoring dashboards.
  • Experience in coordinating with highly skilled software developers and devOps engineers to develop specific observability requirements.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with respect to observability (Mainly with Dynatrace).
  • Knowledge of software development processes and supporting tools for testing & troubleshooting React front-ends and Java, Spring Boot back-end services/APIs.
  • Knowledge and experience and a good overall understanding of Rest APIs/Restful Web services with an eye on selecting specific areas of code with which to drive Dynatrace dashboards and alerting.
