About the Team:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer II to join our Ads team as a Frontend Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the backend systems that power our advertising platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, Data Science, and Operations, to build scalable and reliable systems that enhance the ad experience for our users and drive the success of our advertising business.

What the Candidate Will Do:

- Develop and Maintain Web Applications: Design, implement, and maintain responsive and user-friendly web applications for Uber's advertising platform.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-impact features.
- Write Clean and Efficient Code: Ensure code quality through best practices, including code reviews, testing, and documentation.
- Optimize Performance: Continuously improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of web applications.
- Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Trends: Keep abreast of emerging technologies and trends in frontend development and advertising technology.

Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 1-year full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 1-year total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Programming in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).

- Note the 1-year total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The year of specialized experience is not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.

Technical skills:

Required:

- API design
- Modern javascript

Preferred:

- Modern js framework
- UX
- Static typing systems
- Strong proficiency in backend languages such as React, Node.js, Python, Java, or Go.
- Experience with database systems, both SQL and NoSQL.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.

For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
