Software Engineer II, Web Growth

San Francisco, California

Employer: Uber
Industry: Engineering
Salary: $158000 per year
Job type: Full-Time

About the Role

The Uber Eats Web Growth team is looking for a strong, growth-minded software engineer to help grow Ubereats.com. Using experiments, creativity, and feature creation, this team focuses on bringing values to our Web users. We are owners of the ins and outs of the Ubereats.com business and use a blend of data and intuition to accelerate our impact to Eat's growth journey

What the Candidate Will Do

Solve complex problems in business-critical feature flows.

Own business-critical core feature flows.

Own projects end to end - you'll be responsible for working with Product and other stakeholders to refine requirements, create technical designs and specs, implement changes, and see projects through launch and maintenance.

Basic Qualifications

Creating polished user interfaces: You collaborate with others to design and maintain high-quality user interfaces for a wide audience. With 3+ years of experience, you excel in using web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern UI frameworks like React. You are not afraid of digging into our Go backend systems to understand the stack end-to-end. Familiarity with the technical challenges of fast-paced growth is a bonus.

Data-driven experimentation: You have experience in Growth Engineering from a previous company and are skilled in testing product flows iteratively using A/B testing to analyze customer behavior and make data-informed decisions.

Strategic problem-solving: Your approach to problem-solving involves first gaining a thorough understanding of the context. You can break down complex problems and develop clean solutions, either independently or with a team. You're open to seeking help when facing challenges.

Pragmatic and impact-oriented: You prioritize business impact and choose projects accordingly. Instead of focusing solely on exciting projects, you appreciate the balance between craftsmanship, efficiency, and business objectives.

User-centered mindset: You thoughtfully consider how your work impacts people's lives. You recognize the responsibility that comes with reach and strive to minimize negative consequences while maximizing positive outcomes.

Clear and empathetic communication: You effectively convey complex ideas, whether explaining technical decisions in writing or participating in real-time brainstorming sessions. In cases of disagreement, you thoughtfully engage with different perspectives and are open to compromise.

Collaborative team player: You view work as a team effort and enjoy working across functions to achieve common goals. You value continuous learning and personal growth and support others in their development.

What the Candidate Will Do

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience building scalable systems (we primarily use Go, Python, JavaScript, and Typescript).

Excellent product instincts. You first think about users rather than the best technical solution.

Proven track record of delivering features. You are known for shipping products and features lightning-fast, reliably.

Experience working across the stack.
