Software Engineer Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop, build and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for large distributed components that run company applications.


• Build new features and improve existing products.


• Push code, drive the development of the systems behind products, and create web applications that reach billions of people.


• Build high volume servers.


• Develop a strong understanding of relevant product area, codebase, and/or systems.


• Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, programming and software engineering.


• Produce high-quality code with good test coverage, using modern abstractions and frameworks.


• Migrate portions of large codebases from old design patterns to new and improved ones.


• Identify and improve coding patterns that affect usability, debuggability, and adoption of the Message Platform.


• Build prototypes and proofs of concept to validate architecture improvements.


• Break down projects into tasks and clear execution plans.


• Analyze large changes with A/B tests to uncover and remediate regressions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation Must have 24 months of experience involving the following:


• C


• C++


• Building large-scale infrastructure applications


• Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS as evidenced by file manipulation, advanced commands, and shell scripting and


• Building highly-scalable performant solutions
