Our team's mission is to enhance platform strategies from content supplement and content consumption, promoting a virtuous cycle in the TikTok content ecosystem. The Content Ecosystem Team is responsible for developing and maintaining the platforms and features that support TikTok's vibrant content ecosystem. We are a team of dedicated engineers who are passionate about building the best content experiences for our users.

Internships at TikTok aim to provide students with hands-on experience in developing fundamental skills and exploring potential career paths. A vibrant blend of social events and enriching development workshops will be available for you to explore. Here, you will utilize your knowledge in real-world scenarios while laying a strong foundation for personal and professional growth. This Internship Program runs for 12 weeks beginning in May/June 2025. Successful candidates must be able to commit to one of the following summer internship start dates below:
Monday, May 12
Monday, May 19
Tuesday May 27 (Memorial Day May 26)
Monday, June 9
Monday, June 23

We will prioritize candidates who are able to commit to these start dates. Please state your availability clearly in your resume (Start date, End date).

Online Assessment (Only for RD)
Candidates who pass resume evaluation will be invited to participate in TikTok's technical online assessment in HackerRank.

Responsibilities
1. Design, develop, and maintain content ecosystem platforms and features, enhancing content experience.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and engineers, to deliver high-quality solutions and participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting.
3. Contribute innovative ideas for improving content ecosystem platform efficiency, and assist in monitoring and analyzing feature performance.
4. Develop and maintain documentation for features and systems, ensuring clarity and consistency.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Graduate/Master/PhD in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2025;
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C++, or Go.
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Passion for technology and a strong desire to learn and grow in the field of software engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduating December 2025 onwards with the intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems and cloud technologies.
- Familiarity with content recommendation systems or machine learning algorithms.
- Previous internship or project experience in software development.
- Knowledge of database systems and experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.
- Understanding of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
- Interest in social media platforms and content creation tools.
