Software Engineer - SW Specialist - Systems Responsibilities

• Build infrastructure and internal tools that will support research teams.


• Develop reusable software libraries and applications to allow for fast prototyping.


• Develop reusable software building blocks to allow for fast prototyping in web frameworks, Hack, and Python.


• Build new internal tools or add features and improve existing internal tools.


• Integrate and implement system-level software solutions to facilitate research activities.


• Work side by side with researchers, and research software engineers to understand workflows, prioritize solutions, and create and improve systems the team relies on.


• Apply knowledge of relevant research domains along with expert coding skills to platform and framework development projects.


• Build software, tools, infrastructure, documentation, and other systems that enable research scientists to be more effective and efficient.


• Coordinate with a large set of internal infrastructure and tool teams across the lab and across Meta to evaluate and integrate with existing systems.


• Participate in design reviews and code reviews for the software team.


• Write clean readable code, and debug complex problems that span systems.

Minimum Qualifications

• Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, Physics, Applied Sciences, or a related field, and 3 years of work experience in job offered or in a computer-related occupation. OR Employer will accept 5 years of work experience in jobs offered or in a computer-related occupation. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.


• Requires 3 years of experience in the following:


• 1. Experience developing web-based applications at scale using React, GraphQL and Hack/PHP


• 2. Data management skills including schema designs, data processing and visualization (SQL)


• 3. Experience with development tools including code editors, revision control systems and agile practices


• 4. Scripting languages like Bash, Powershell or Python


• 5. Software development experience developing, debugging, and shipping software products on large code bases in a cloud environment


• 6. Software development practices including source control, code reviews, unit testing, debugging and profiling


• 7. Code bases covering different layers in the firmware/software stack.

$159,600/year to $200,200/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
