The teacher is the district's primary agent for instruction with responsibility for presenting the prescribed curriculum effectively and employing a diagnostic/prescriptive approach to identification and subsequent adaptation to the needs and interests of the students.
The duties commonly associated with the position include but are not limited to:
- maintaining up-to-date knowledge of curriculum content
- planning and assessment of instruction and curriculum
- maintaining classroom management
- planning and delivering effective instruction
- promoting high standards and expectations for student achievement
- communicating with students, parents, and other district employees to work on behalf of students
- promoting equity and appreciation of diversity
Job Requirements
Position is grant-funded for the 2024-2025 school year and will end June 30, 2025.
Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
MA DESE Certification in Moderate Disabilities PreK-8 or 5-12.
Experience working with students who have multiple disabilities.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills. Ability to work as part of a team. Willing to be trained in de-escalation and restraint techniques provided by the district.
Ability to use data to plan for, assess, and modify instruction.
