QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must possess the following qualifications:
- Paraprofessional Licensure
- Excellent attendance record
- Ability to accept responsibility and work independently and reliably with moderate supervision in support of students in a general education setting
- Ability to provide academic support when given guidance from certified staff provide support to students in a variety of subject areas
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously within professional teams to provide effective instruction and management in the general classroom setting
- Ability to effectively implement and utilize appropriate classroom management techniques that support teaching goals and objectives
- Willingness to take initiative to follow through on educational duties to maximize effective service provision in the general classroom setting
- Ability to stand on feet for two hours at a time
- Ability to go up and down stairs
- Ability to lift 30 pounds
- Excellent reliability
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to keep records
- Demonstrated excellent performance in the areas of professional attitude and dress
- Demonstrated excellent performance in areas of student confidentiality and privacy
- Willingness to participate in training relevant to the duties of the position
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with special education and/or general education teachers to provide individualized and small group support to students with disabilities.
- Implement and adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities.
- Assist students in understanding and completing assignments, staying on task, and managing behaviors in the classroom.
- Assist in the setup and organization of the classroom to accommodate the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
- Support classroom management strategies and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide assistance during instructional activities, including hands-on support for students with disabilities, as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and staff to discuss student progress and plan strategies for improved outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with students, both verbally and non-verbally, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and co-teaching.
- Follow directives provided by the Special Education teacher and provide feedback about IEP student academic and behavioral performance to Special Education teacher
- Be present and follow schedules of assigned responsibilities in a reliable and punctual manner
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior, under the guidance of special education teachers.
- Assist in clerical duties as needed
- Completion of other duties as needed
