MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Possess and maintain a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in special education and/or collaborative
- Knowledge of curriculum development, effective classroom practices, and professional development
- Good public relations skills
- Ability to understand the unique needs and learning characteristics of students
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
- Knowledge of and ability to use and facilitate the use of various forms of education technology and assist in instructional practices

- Develops lesson plans to meet school system's goals using Alabama State Course(s) of Study and/or Alabama Alternate Achievement Standards (when applicable).
- As an inclusion teacher, collaborates with general education teachers to plan and employ a variety of appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities to help ensure that each student reaches maximum educational
- As small group setting teacher, plans and employs a variety of appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities utilizing Extended Standards and Alabama Alternate Assessment (AAA) goals to ensure that each student reaches maximum educational
- Manages the behavior of learners in the classroom and participates in management of student behavior in other parts of the
- Implements and updates the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) as
- Actively participates and works with school personnel and other IEP team members in the selection of curriculum goals, specialized equipment, and other instructional materials, to provide the student with maximum learning opportunities.
- Documents student progress by efficiently maintaining and submitting appropriate records and progress
- Follows rules, guidelines, and procedures of Section 504 and IDEA
- Effectively implements special education processes such as eligibility, IEP, FBA, BIP, manifestation determination,

- Collaborates with the Operations Director, local school administration, and counselors in identifying maintenance
- Collaborates with local school administration and counselors on matters related to student discipline, Virtual School, student attendance, RYAS, court referrals, hearings, bullying/harassment concerns, and any other school
- Collaborates with teachers, local school administration, and counselors on matters related to special education, IEPs, FBAs, BIPs, disciplining students in special education, gifted education, accommodations/modifications to the curriculum, and all other items that may fall under special/gifted
- Collaborates with school bookkeeper on matters related to finance, purchase orders, receipting monies, budgets, purchasing, and all other items that may fall under the finance department
- Collaborates with the Technology Director, local school administration, and counselors on matters related to technology; including purchasing, deployment, repairs, and all other items that may fall under the Technology Director's supervision.
- Supervises and instructs students according to school system policies and best practices.
