The Special Projects Analyst will support SGC Leadership in research, coordination, and project management of the Council-level activities and priorities. The scope of work will lead to developing new pilot programs, policy solutions and/or Council resolutions identified by the Council members and SGC Leadership in collaboration with other agencies and interested parties.

Under the general direction and day-to-day supervision of the SGC Executive Director, the incumbent will support the SGC Leadership team with research of various topics, engagement with interested parties, project management, and developing memos and policy recommendations.

The incumbent is required to have strong research and analytical skills and possess an understanding of urban planning, climate change impacts and policies, community development, local government operations, and infrastructure development. The incumbent must have the ability to communicate with a range of partners and interested parties, including senior leadership, elected officials, community members, Tribes, and the general public. The incumbent must be open-minded and passionate about committing to serve California's diverse communities throughout the administration of the programs, initiatives, and events. The incumbent must be willing to travel and effectively participate and coordinate in site visits, public workshops, and meetings up to 20% of the time. Occasionally will need to work on evenings, weekends, and holidays.

This is a 12-month limited term position which may be extended to 24 months and may become permanent.

NOTE: Training & Development (T&D) assignments will not be considered for this recruitment.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code . The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

Located in an office setting in downtown Sacramento, directly across from the State Capitol. Various coffee shops and restaurants conveniently located within walking distance. Available street parking and State-owned parking garages nearby for convenience. Telework may be available in accordance with OPR's Telework Policy.

All OPR employees must reside in California upon appointment.
