To provide professional development and individual teacher support regarding general education
classroom behavior practices. This may entail whole class or individual feedback/observations, support
for behavioral data collection, positive behavior interventions, social-emotional learning, and other
strategies to support academic and behavioral competence for students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provides professional development in behavioral strategies or interventions, which may include:
    social-emotional learning, relationship building, and routines, and additional strategies as
    deemed appropriate.
  • Provides support to Teacher Leader Facilitators (TLF) through assigned schools and TLF Summit
    events
  • Participate in department committees, projects, and meetings in a collaborative fashion.
  • Use knowledge of the Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan process to
    provide consultation to teachers and schools.
  • Acts in an advisory and support role for individual teachers encountering problematic classroom
    and student behaviors.
  • Performs classroom observations to identify behavioral functions, including the antecedent(s)
    and consequence(s) of behavior, to determine appropriate interventions.
  • Develops, aligns, monitors and supports positive behavior support programs (i.e. Positive
    Behavior Management Strategies (PBIS), Zones of Regulation, Accept, Identify, Move (AIM),
    Kagan) and supports schools through observation and feedback of student and school needs
    related to positive behavior support.
  • Assists in developing data collection systems and monitors program effectiveness.
  • Supports staff in conflict response strategies.
  • Participate in training as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Collaborates with principals, SAT Team, Principal Support Specialists, and Special Education
    department on program and student needs.
  • Participate as a collaborative member of the AIM Training Team.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience educating, mentoring or coaching adults.
  • Knowledge of protective and risk factors and previous training in specific behavioral and trauma informed strategies.
  • Experience with both general and special education populations.
  • Experience with linguistically and culturally diverse communities.
  • Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects and coordinate the work of others.
  • Sensitivity and knowledge of cultural effects on behavioral norms.
  • Willingness to become trained in AIM as a facilitator.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • NM teaching, counseling or administrative license.
  • 5 years of school experience working directly with students utilizing positive behavior management strategies.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and travel between schools.
