Position Summary

Reporting jointly to the Faculty Support Manager and the Executive Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, the Faculty Support and Compliance Specialist will (1) collaborate with other members of the Faculty Support Team to provide high-level administrative support to faculty members in the realms of teaching, research, and public engagement; and (2) assist the Executive Associate Dean of Academic Affairs on a variety of administrative tasks, with a particular focus on preparing and finalizing periodic submissions to the American Bar Association and U.S. News & World Report.

Essential Functions

Faculty
  • Perform general clerical and administrative tasks to support faculty, including in relation to correspondence, scholarship, travel, course materials, recommendations, faculty committee work, and meetings.
  • Assist professors in their preparations for class by formatting and printing syllabi, collating course packets, clearing copyrights, and creating seating charts for use by faculty and main campus.
  • Review course materials to foster accessibility, in coordination with the University’s Office of Teaching and Learning and Disability Services Program.
  • Assist with online components of Canvas courses, including scanning and uploading accessible alternate text format documents, quiz creation/maintenance, and module organization.
  • Provide support for faculty in the tabulation and submission of grades to the Registrar’s Office.
  • Provide support for faculty scholarship, including working with manuscripts, legal citation, and the submission process to book publishers and law reviews.
  • Provide support for events and conferences, in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Events.
  • Assist with reimbursement and p-card reconciliations in the University’s travel and expense platform.
  • Perform notary services for both law faculty and law students.
  • Serve as first point of contact for technical assistance for faculty members.
  • Undertake other duties, as assigned by the Faculty Support Manager.

Executive Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
  • Assist with periodic submissions to the American Bar Association and U.S. News & World Report.
  • Undertake other duties, as assigned by the Executive Associate Dean.

Required Qualifications
  • Two years of college coursework or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Two years of administrative experience
  • Experience in a legal or policy creating/analyzing setting, either in an academic, non-profit, or private setting

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree
  • Knowledge of legal citation
  • Experience using academic and legal research tools (Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, HeinOnline)
  • Certified Notary Public
  • Previous work experience in an academic environment supporting programs and/or staff/faculty

Working Environment

1. Standard office environment.
2. Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
3. Noise level is quiet to moderate.

Physical Activities

1. Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
2. Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

Work Schedule
8:30am-5:00pm Monday-Friday. In accordance with the University’s flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 6.

Hourly Range:
The hourly range for the position is $20.00-$24.00.
