About this role

The Health & Safety Specialist provides health and safety support to project teams on standards, performance requirements and improvement solutions.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • Facilitate as escalation point and guide SME expertise to H&S project teams
  • Deliver global Fatality Risk Management support for the safe, efficient and cost-effective operational control and handling of project sites
  • Coordinate the execution of H&S strategic initiatives across the Global Projects Group and at each Project including Project Leadership Teams and EPC,M contractors
  • Responsible for delivering leadership and strategic direction to Projects while ensuring behaviors, standards and frameworks are formulated, maintained and aligned to Newmont's culture and values
  • Assist the Global Projects Health and Safety Director and site teams, with secondary responsibilities to deliver HS systems, information to meet Newmont reporting requirements, in partnership with governance
  • Collaborate with executing Newmont HS systems including all plans, initiatives and programs that adhere to the HS strategy
  • Identify, formulate and execute HS improvement opportunities across the Projects portfolio
  • Monitor and assess implications of proposed legislative changes to the business and ensure they are reflected in HS strategy development
  • Responsible for coordinating cross departmental co-operation and collaboration to maximize business value while translating corporate initiatives into Global Project Team business objectives

Working conditions and location

The preferred location for this position is the Denver corporate headquarters or office in Lima, Peru, however qualified candidates in proximity to any of our regional offices or sites in the Americas are also encouraged to apply. Extensive international travel throughout the Americas is required.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $90,720 - 107,730. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance.
