Position Summary: 

Responsible for the development, maintenance, and evolution of a comprehensive labor model in support of a distribution and transportation region.  Create and implement key staffing and performance metrics that will drive continuous improvement across a regionally defined distribution and transportation network.  Will work collaboratively with Human Resources, Senior Supply Chain Operational leadership, and regional leadership to ensure supply chain goals and initiatives are met or exceeded. 

Principle Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Support regional leadership for day-to-day labor planning to guide the implementation of staffing strategies and initiatives for labor and planning in support of defined Supply Chain Campuses. 
  • Ensure adherence and use of established labor tools and systems across region to create consistency and maximized benefit for all sites 
  • Work closely with Control Tower/Planning resources to create a comprehensive approach for planning and maximize efficiency and performance 
  • Work collaboratively across departments to meet budgeted key performance metrics, which include, but are not limited to: 
  • Budget Staffing Hours, Average hours Worked, Overtime Percentage, Attrition/Retention, Cost per Hour, and Off Standard Hours.  These key performance metrics are meant to be comprehensive in nature but are not limited to the list above due to changing nature of business priorities. 
  • Partner with Accounting and Regional Operational Leadership to ensure staffing performance indicators are developed, analyzed, and effectively reported.   
  • Create and direct best practices for reporting labor and staffing performance and compliance with standards across a regional distribution network.  
  • Set the standard for excellence of development, distribution, accuracy, and frequency of reports to be used within a regional distribution network.   
  • Develop, maintain, and evolve compliance programs to ensure consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures across the region, to protect integrity and accurate reporting of staffing programs. 
  • Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and evolution of training programs for regional distribution network associates on staffing plans, to include:  staffing management, holiday and expected peak planning as well as unplanned/storm events. 
  • Serving as the Labor Planning expert internally and externally on inventory management principles. 
  • Provide leadership that will motivate employees and function as an effective promoter of change and growth. 
  • Provide support for the implementation of a continuous improvement culture 
  • Create new methods and procedures based on industry best practices, trends and best in class external benchmarking. 
  • Act as a supply chain leader to identify opportunities that drive out cost and improve service within the network. 
  • Lead and/or serve as a member of key teams and committees as needed 

Knowledge: 
  • Detailed understanding of end-to-end supply chain operations 
  • Advanced understanding of large-scale grocery inventory best practices and metrics 
  • Advanced MS Excel 
  • Advanced understanding of Staffing and Labor strategies 

Skills: 
  •  
  • Excellent organizational, planning, influence, communication, and presentation skills 
  • Self-motivated and persuasive in presenting and selling ideas and executing their implementation

Education/Experience: 
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related work experience. 
  • 4+ years combined experience in supply chain, logistics or retail 
  • Strong financial planning and budgeting experience
