The Opportunity:

As a highly valued member of the Dallas, TX Team, the Pressroom Supervisor is responsible for pressroom operations and the supervision of pressroom staff during shift hours of operation, under the direction of the Pressroom Manager, including ensuring efficient and quality-oriented production in a safe work environment while meeting departmental goals and expectations. This position is located onsite at the Dallas, TX Plant.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Supervise workers in the pressroom. Provide support, counseling, direction and both positive reinforcement and discipline when needed
  • Assists press operators with starting jobs by calling rotations, giving positions, and getting color ok's as quickly as possible (approve color, register, position, etc.)
  • Ensures crews have all necessary materials to do their jobs before job goes on press (plates, stock, ink, chemicals, etc.); if not, locates missing items
  • Revises production schedules and priorities in response to customer demand or as result of equipment failure or other operating problems
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production issues
  • Strives for stated goals pertaining to press speeds and make ready times

  • Identifies, documents, and drives departmental metrics for Productivity, Safety, Quality, Scrap, and any other metrics required by the Company

  • Ensures compliance to all Company policies and procedures, continually participating in company LEAN manufacturing training and audits
  • Coaches and assists employees to do their jobs to the best of their ability
  • Ensures employees are following safe work practices and SOP's
  • Conducts timely performance reviews of employees, providing fair, thorough, honest feedback
  • Develops methods of enhancing morale and promoting teamwork within the Press Department as well as among other departments
  • Leads effective shift meetings
  • Performs other job duties as assigned


What you need to succeed:

  • Minimum of 3 years of sheet fed press experience
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred
  • Able to pass color vision and hue test
  • Must have demonstrated ability to do the jobs he/she is supervising or to quickly gain a working knowledge of those jobs
  • Requires basic computer skills
  • Have effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or scheduled form
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation
